A police spokeswoman said the search was likely to continue today.
The terrain in the search area was "very challenging" and police again extended their thanks to the SAR volunteers and South Otago locals who had helped in the search.
Police also wanted to thank Mr Lowe’s family and friends, who had been "extremely supportive" and had "worked tirelessly" with police and SAR since Mr Lowe went missing.
Mr Lowe left work in Portsmouth Dr in Dunedin about 10am on Friday September 15, and has not been seen or heard from since.
