$6400 raised for Blue Light

About $6400 will be given to Dunedin Police Blue Light Empowering Youth after the Taieri Gorge Rail Walk last month.

Each year the walk is run as a fundraiser for a particular charitable cause and this year Blue Light was chosen, walk convener Alan Hamilton, of the Lions Club of Dunedin South, said.

It was hoped the money could be topped up by more fundraising, but ''it's a lot of money for any organisation to pick up in one day'', he said.

This year marked the sixth time the event was held and it ''was a good day out''.
