The Dunedin event, one of the Car Free Day events held around the world on September 22, aimed to give people a glimpse of what city life would be like with fewer cars.

Those stopping by had the chance to test-ride an e-scooter or e-bike, ride a free bus or watch demonstrations, such as how to put a bike on a bus, Dunedin City Council infrastructure services general manager — and Connecting Dunedin spokesman — Simon Drew said.

The Dunedin event was organised by Connecting Dunedin, which is a partnership between the DCC, NZ Transport Agency and Otago Regional Council, which aimed to improve the city’s integrated transport system.
