A light aircraft clipped a fence on the Taieri this evening, prompting concerns that there may have been a crash.
A police spokeswoman said they were notified of the incident about 6.40pm.
She said a small aircraft, possibly home-built, had clipped a fence while the pilot was coming in to land in the vicinity of School Rd.
The pilot escaped without injury. There was no word on any other passengers, nor on damage to the aircraft.
The Civil Aviation Authority and Rescue Coordination Centre had been notified, she said.
