Police believe a car crash which left an elderly woman seriously injured in Dunedin last week was the result of driver error.

The 80-year-old woman’s 2018 Suzuki Ignis rolled in Alva St on July 11.

Fire crews and ambulance officers worked to free her from the wreck before she was taken to Dunedin Hospital.

A police spokeswoman said ‘‘it appears to be a case of driver error’’.

She was unable to provide a condition update on the injured woman.

No other vehicles were involved.
