Art lovers storm opening

Dunedin artist and exhibition judge Barry Weston looks at photographic work Allans Beach Storm, by John Burke, at the ''Almost an Island'' art exhibition opening at the Macandrew Bay Community Hall, in Dunedin, last night.

OpenArts peninsula artists group chairman Roger Weston said 120 people attended the opening and viewed 150 works.

Cathy Shemansky won the two-dimensional award for her pastel work Turnbulls Bay, and Suzanne Emslie won the three dimensional award for two Oamaru stone sculptures. Mr Burke and Kathy Palenski received merit awards.

The exhibition runs until April 2.
