'Axe used' in South Dunedin burglary

Electronic tablets worth thousands of dollars were stolen when a South Dunedin store was broken into early yesterday.

An axe may have been used to force open a door at Warehouse Stationery, Sergeant Jaimee McDonald, of Dunedin, said.

The incident, about 1am, was similar to another burglary that occurred about a year ago, she said.

The offender, who was captured on CCTV, was wearing a jacket, a hoodie and a balaclava, and possibly red or orange shoes.

Anyone who might have witnessed the incident or had been offered cheap tablets was urged to contact Dunedin police on 471›4800, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
