Car fire on motorway

Emergency services attended an early morning car fire on the State Highway 1 near Dunedin yesterday.

Senior Sergeant Anthony Bond said police were called to the Northern Motorway to assist Fire and Emergency New Zealand with reports of a burning vehicle about 1am.

The car was believed to have been abandoned for several days before it was set alight, Snr Sgt Bond said.
