A car knocked down a power pole yesterday morning in Dunedin, closing part of State Highway 88 until early afternoon.
A police spokeswoman said the single-car crash happened in Sir John Thorn Dr in Sawyers Bay, near Port Chalmers, at 8.30am.
The driver was not thought to be injured.
No other people were in the car.
The spokeswoman said there was "some suggestion" ice may have been involved.
The concrete power pole blocked part of Sir John Thorn Dr (SH88) between Roseneath and Port Chalmers. Fire crews were sent to the scene.The power company had been contacted.
SH88 between the intersections with Station Rd and Wickliffe Tce was closed and a diversion was in place until about 1.45pm, when the road reopened, the NZ Transport Agency advised.
