Cars impounded after alleged street racing

Two vehicles were impounded for 28 days and the drivers arrested after alleged illegal street racing in Mosgiel.

Police were called to Murray St at the weekend following calls from concerned residents, Sergeant Kevin Davidson, of Mosgiel, said.

The vehicles had reportedly been racing around the residential area and doing burnouts.

The two Mosgiel men were charged with driving offences.

''There were kids all over the place. It was a recipe for disaster.''

Sgt Davidson urged members of the public to report any cases of poor driving to police, ''as we will take firm action''.
