Catching a break on king tide

The St Clair Salt Water Pool was closed for cleaning yesterday after large waves breached the sea wall and flooded the facility.

The waves were caused by a king tide, and were enjoyed by surfers along St Clair and St Kilda Beaches. Dunedin's wet and windy weather is expected to abate today. The MetService has forecast fine weather, with brisk southwesterlies gradually easing, and a high of 16degC.
