The Otago Daily Times Class Act recipients from 2001 are spread around the globe and well on their way to fulfilling their early potential.
Among their ranks are academics studying on scholarships in London, New York and Amsterdam.
One woman works as a governess on a remote Australian station, also mustering on horseback when the need arises.
Another a former finalist in the Young Winemaker of the Year markets New Zealand wine in the United Kingdom and Europe.
There's a coach training talented swimmers in Australia, a surveyor working on the upgrade of the East London railway line and a freelance orchestral player with his own rock band.
The Otago Daily Times Class Act initiative began in 2000 with the aim of celebrating the excellence of young people in our province.
This year, 29 high schools nominated 56 pupils on the basis of their accomplishments and potential.
The awards recognise excellence across many fields, including academic, sporting and artistic achievement.
The intention is to follow these outstanding pupils as they make their way into adult life and reach further milestones.
