Caution urged on roads

Motorists should continue to to take care on Dunedin's roads because of ice and remnants of snow.

Dunedin City Council roading maintenance engineer Peter Standring said all roads were clear yesterday but there were still areas of snow on Mt Cargill Rd, Otago Peninsula and Three Mile Hill Rd.

"People need to take general care on roads."

The New Zealand Transport Agency was yesterday afternoon warning motorists to take extreme care due to ice on State Highway 87, Outram to Middlemarch, and SH85, Palmerston to Kyeburn.

A caution for snow had been issued for SH94, Te Anau to Milford Sound, with motorists advised to carry chains.
