About 70 people gathered in Queens Gardens yesterday for a pro-choice picnic, as part of the Our Bodies — Our Choice: National Day of Action for Abortion Law Reform, supporting reproductive rights.

The purpose of the picnic was to call on Parliament to strengthen and adopt the Abortion Legislation Bill and celebrate the feminist movement.

Otepoti Collective Against Sexual Abuse Collective member Larissa Hinds said the group took part in banner and artwork painting, and read an open letter to Parliament.

She said a small counter protest happened nearby but the two groups did not engage.
