Climate-change campaigner to speak

American environmentalist and writer Bill McKibben will give three talks in Otago this week, as part of a speaking tour of New Zealand.

Mr McKibben is the author of End of Nature and the founder of 350.org, which is preparing for massive global actions on October 24 in the lead-up to the United Nations Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen in December.

On his tour, he is expected to spread the word about what it means to genuinely deal with climate change.

Mr McKibben has public appearances planned in Dunedin today, hosted by the Centre for Science Communication at the University of Otago's St David St Lecture Theatre, at 5.30pm, and Thursday, hosted by Sustainable Dunedin City at Dunedin College of Education Auditorium, at noon, He will also speak in Wanaka on Wednesday, as part of the Lake Wanaka Festival of Colour, at Infinity Crystal Palace, at 10.30am and 2.30pm.
