A power pole in Lee Stream-Outram Rd, near Outram, is on a precarious lean after a late-model Honda crashed into it yesterday.

A police spokeswoman said the crash occurred about 2.30pm.

A St John spokesman said one person was taken by ambulance to Dunedin Hospital in a moderate condition.

One fire appliance, one ambulance and two police cars attended the crash.

Aurora and Delta spokesman Gary Johnson said Delta would replace the damaged concrete power pole and transformer last night. The outage affected ''surrounding streets'', which he estimated meant a ''small number of households''.

It was not known if the power pole was due for replacement.
