Dogs track man acting suspiciously at Dunedin building site

A man seen acting suspiciously in a building site was apprehended by a police dog team overnight.

Senior Sergeant Trevor Thomson, of Dunedin, said the dog handler was deployed after the alleged offender was seen inside the building site in Taieri Rd.

“He appeared to be stacking some property on a building site,'' Snr Sgt Thomson said.

''Dogs then tracked the man.”

There were also three burglary reports over the weekend.

Snr Sgt Thomson said the owner of a Dodge Journey reported their DJ mixing deck had been stolen from the vehicle sometime between November 2 and Friday.

''We think the car was open."

Up the hill in Concord on Friday, a resident reported the burglary of jewelry, alcohol and clothing from their Morris St home.

Jewelry and clothing were also taken during another burglary in Carlyle St, North East Valley last night, along with some cash.

Dunedin police (03) 471-4800, Crimestoppers 0800-555-111.
