Mobil assault victim still in coma

The man accused of a service-station attack which left a man fighting for his life will appear in court on July 20.

The 25-year-old hammer hand of Dunedin - who was granted interim name suppression late yesterday - was due to be called in the Dunedin District Court yesterday morning charged with causing grievous bodily harm with reckless disregard for the safety of others but was remanded in custody by consent.

The incident took place about 10.30pm on Saturday on the forecourt of Mobil Forbury in Hillside Rd.

A source close to the family said the victim, a 43-year-old Dunedin man, remained in a coma in Dunedin Hospital but was expected to survive.
