'Priceless' antique radio stolen

A 100-year-old antique radio has been stolen from a property on Mt Cargill Rd, near Dunedin, over night.

Senior Sergeant Craig Dinnissen, of Dunedin, said the radio was described as being "approximately 100-years-old, 400mmx400mm in size, with a wood-grain finish, large oval mesh-covered opening and several knobs across the bottom''.

"It's easily identifiable.''

It was stolen along with a grey and red Masport lawn mower, a Mikita 210mm skill saw (still in its box), some Stihl hedge clippers and a battery-powered Stihl chainsaw, from a garage and shed on Mt Cargill Road, Dunedin.

He said the equipment was estimated to be worth about $1500 to $2000.

"And the antique radio is probably priceless. It has sentimental value as well.''

He asked anyone with information about the equipment, to contact Dunedin police on (03) 471-4800 or Crimestoppers  0800-555-111.
