Port Otago has confirmed the next cruise ship to visit Dunedin will arrive in late October.
The Otago Regional Council-owned port company confirmed in a newsletter that Celebrity Eclipse, which can carry up to 2850 passengers and more than 1200 crew, was booked to berth at Port Chalmers on October 26.
Cruise ships were banned from New Zealand waters in 2020 due to the risk of Covid-19.
Last month, the Government announced borders would reopen to cruise ships again on July 31.
Prior to the ban, the cruise industry was worth more than $60 million each year to Otago.
