A cyclist had to be cut free from his bike after crashing in Dunedin.

A Fire and Emergency New Zealand spokesman said they were required to cut a brake cable on the bike to free the rider after the crash about 12.45pm yesterday in Magnet St, near the Otago Yacht Club.

St John spokesman Gerard  Campbell said the 50-year-old rider was taken to Dunedin Hospital with moderate injuries.
