City roads closed for resealing

Three major Dunedin roads will be closed for resealing next week, including a main access route between Mosgiel and the city.

Three Mile Hill Rd between Silverstream Valley Rd and Dalziel Rd will be closed to through traffic from 7am next Tuesday to 7pm on Friday, January 17.

The Dunedin City Council is recommending motorists take the State Highway1 alternative route.

Access would be provided for Three Mile Hill residents during the closure, Council acting group manager transport Nick Sargent said.

The Stuart St-Highgate northern off-ramp, between Stuart St and Highgate, will be closed from 9am to 5pm on Tuesday to Saturday, January 18, and a detour will be available via Stuart St, Littlebourne Rd, Tweed St and Selkirk St.

Moray Pl, between George St and Harrop St, would also be closed from 7pm to 7am, from Tuesday to Saturday, January 18.

Mr Sargent said the council wanted to complete all the resealing on the roads which would cause the most disruption when some people were still on holiday and before schools went back in February.

‘‘We have a large amount of sealing to get through before the end of March.’’

This was the earliest date the work could begin.

‘‘Contractor availability is a factor as they do not carry out this work out over the Christmas break.

‘‘We also needed a few days of more settled weather as the work requires fine weather to be completed.’’
