Special votes officer Greg Sligo holds a box for voting documents at a special polling booth at the Blueskin Bay Library yesterday.

The booth will move around six locations until October 7 to enable people to cast special votes for the local government election, moving today to Waikouaiti, tomorrow to the University of Otago, then South Dunedin, Port Chalmers and Mosgiel.

Special voting facilities are also available at the Civic Centre, in the Octagon, until October 8.

Electoral officer Pam Jordan said although the elections were held by postal vote it was important to offer people who didn't receive papers a way to vote.

Special votes were available for reasons including being on the unpublished roll, having your name not on the printed roll or wrongly deleted, or having an out-of-date address.
