Deer on the loose in Mosgiel

Police are trying to round up seven deer which are on the loose in Mosgiel.

The escaped animals were seen in the High Street, Hagart Alexander Drive area, but are now believed to have gone "further afield", a police spokesman said.

Sixteen deer were running wild but nine had been corralled.

Police are advising people to stay away from them as they are frightened and can be dangerous if spooked.

Police are also requesting any sightings of the deer to be reported to them.

The deer are believed to have escaped from a paddock in the Wingatui area.
