Driver freed after campervan rolls near Waitati

The driver of a campervan has been freed after becoming trapped inside the rolled vehicle on State Highway 1 near Waitati this afternoon. 

Police were called to the scene shortly before 4pm. 

Fire and emergency vehicles, as well as St John attended the scene, according to a reporter in attendance. 

A police spokeswoman said the driver appeared to escape major injury in the crash. 

No other vehicles were involved in the incident. 

The road was partially blocked for a time, with traffic slowed while a scene clean up took place.
