The driver of a vehicle which struck and severely injured 10-year-old Shania Hutton in Riselaw Rd, Dunedin, last year, has been charged.
A 37-year-old Dunedin woman will appear in the Dunedin District Court next Thursday, charged with careless driving causing injury.
Shania was struck by a car on a pedestrian crossing on December 22, only metres from her Calton Hill home, while on her way to buy lollies at the local shop.
She was taken to Dunedin Hospital with serious head and lung injuries and later transferred to Starship Hospital in Auckland. She has been at the Wilson Centre in Auckland with her mother since March.
