Ashley and Shar Sutherland Todd snipped and styled their way to a share of prizes at the Hairdresser of the Year awards.
Mrs Sutherland Todd said although the married couple represented Canterbury at the awards on Sunday, they had moved to Dunedin in April.
Her husband was second in the Oceanic Hairdressing Master - conversion, an award competed for by New Zealand and Australian hairdressers, she said.
She was third in the colourist of the year category and was recognised for winning the 2012 International Face award by the International Hairstylists Society.
The Australian hair society presented her with the award at the Auckland ceremony, she said.
"It is such an honour being seen at that level among your peers."
The couple were extremely passionate about their craft and loved helping people look and feel their best, she said.
