Two Dunedin medical lecturers are this year's Peter Snow Memorial Award recipients.
Jean Ross, a principal lecturer at Otago Polytechnic, received an award for her contribution to rural nursing, while Dr Pat Farry, of the University of Otago, was recognised for his pioneering work in improving rural health, including the establishment of Te Wai Pounamu Rural Health Unit at Otago Medical School.
New Zealand Rural General Practice Network chairwoman Kirsty Murrell-McMillan said they had worked hard to combat the shortage of health professionals in rural areas.
The award, established in 2007, honours the dedication of the late Dr Snow, a sole GP in West Otago for 35 years.
