Dunedin murder accused named

One of three men charged with murder following the death of a 23-year-old man at Blueskin Bay estuary last month can now be named.

He is Peter Richard Holmes (25), unemployed, of Ocean View, who was given interim name suppression when dealt with by registrar's adjournment at the Dunedin District Court on April 18.

The order for interim suppression ended yesterday and no application was made for it to be extended.

Holmes and the two co-accused - a father (47) and son (17) - are charged jointly with murdering James Mathew Ellis, on April 15.

Like the father and son, Holmes has a pre-trial date of June 14. He is remanded in custody by consent.

The father and son are both on bail with strict conditions.

At an appearance before a judge on May 4, they were granted continued interim suppression of their names to June 14.
