Police have released the licence plate numbers of four outstanding Subarus stolen last week.
At least six Subaru cars were stolen in Dunedin at the weekend and Sergeant Chris McLellan said four still missing had the plates TJ5322, EUL393, RA5532 and BPM943.
It appeared someone would take a car, drive it some distance and steal another one, leaving the first behind.
"It would tend to indicate the vehicles were being joy-ridden,'' he said.
He believed the pattern of stealing one brand related to the offender having Subaru keys or to the way in which they could be started.
If anyone has any information in relation to these vehicles or the offenders, contact police.
