False alarm triggers evacuation at Moana Pool

Moana Pool is evacuated yesterday morning after a false alarm.

A Fire and Emergency New Zealand spokesman said firefighters responded about 11am to what was initially believed to be a fire on the first floor at the pool.

"They couldn’t find anything there," he said.

People were allowed back inside after about 20 minutes.

The pool is hosting the 2020 Swimming Canterbury West Coast Championships, which end tomorrow.
