Police have concerns for the safety of a 67-year-old Mosgiel woman last seen yesterday evening.

Gae Denise Pantel was last seen around 8.30pm when she went to bed early. She had been staying at the home of friends in Riccarton Road East, East Taieri.

Family and friends have been searching for Mrs Pantel since this morning in Mosgiel and around Kaka Point, an area Mrs Pantel had expressed an interest in visiting.

Police say they have concerns for Mrs Pantel's safety as she suffers from ill-health.

She may be on foot as her car remains at her friends' address, as do items such as her credit cards and her mobile phone.

Mrs Pantel is of slight build and short in stature. While it's not known what clothing she is wearing, it's likely to be similar to that she is wearing in the photograph above.

Although she is wearing glasses in the photograph, it's not believed that she has taken these with her.

Police have asked members of the public to keep an eye out for Mrs Pantel and to contact police if they see her.

Police, who have been advising and liaising with Mrs Pantel's family, are this evening conducting an initial intensive search of a 300 metre radius from the address in Riccarton Road East where Mrs Pantel was staying.
