Heavy rain in Dunedin seems to have put a dampener on a fight organised through the internet.
A post on social media about Lime Scooters seems to have become so heated it led to a fight being organised between two people.
The two men organised to meet at the Mornington Park at 6pm tonight but several people contacted police before the fight could take place.
A police spokeswoman said they were alerted by members of the public to the social media post and dispatched a unit to the park at 5.30pm.
By 6pm heavy rain had started to fall on the city and the police presence seems to have prevented the scuffle from breaking out, the spokeswoman said.
"We sent a car to the area and it doesn't appear that there were any issues."
