After a long search the Dunedin City Council has found a new chief financial manager.
The council announced yesterday Dave Tombs had been appointed as its general manager commercial and finance.
He is at present chief financial officer and executive manager of corporate services at Hinchinbrook Shire Council near Townsville in Australia.
Mr Tombs, who is originally from the United Kingdom, worked for accounting firm KPMG in London and Sydney before moving to Northern Queensland in 1994.
He fills the role left by Grant McKenzie, now chief executive at Allied Press, the publisher of the Otago Daily Times.
