First baby of the new year

Proud parents David (31) and Kylie (29) Miller with son Luca, the first baby born at the Queen Mary Maternity Centre at Dunedin Hospital yesterday, and daughter Nika (4), of Mosgiel.

Luca was born at 4.55am yesterday and weighed 3.77kg (8lb 5oz). Luca was one of three babies born at Queen Mary yesterday.

One baby was also born at Southland Hospital in Invercargill.
