Opoho Primary School pupils (from left) Marco Farella (9), Baxter Smith (8), Darcie Willis (5), Nella Whelan (7) and Felix Reiber (6) wear wacky wigs in support of the Child Cancer Foundation, at the school in Dunedin yesterday.

While schools and businesses across the country donned wigs, Opoho Primary School had a particular connection with the cause.

Pupil Darcie Willis is in remission from Burkitts lymphoma, a rare and aggressive form of cancer, and features on Child Cancer Foundation posters.

Her brother Harry (10) said he was pleased his school was raising money and awareness for the Child Cancer Foundation.

Teacher Tania Henderson said the event was also to support the Willis family who had done ''so much'' for the school.
