Harbour mystery floated

The Coastguard, Surf Lifesaving and police were involved in a search operation on Otago Harbour after an empty kayak was seen in the water.

A police spokeswoman said a member of the public made contact after seeing the blue kayak floating, empty, at Company Bay before 3.30pm yesterday. The caller was concerned a person might have been missing in the water.

The kayak was believed to have been blown into the water, the spokeswoman said.
