Dunedin’s city centre finally has the festive feel about it.

Christmas decorations were finally hung in the Octagon, George and Princes Sts on Thursday night after foul weather prompted  the Dunedin City Council to delay  installation because of safety concerns.

But with fine weather forecast for the next few days, the decorations were able to go  up.

The Octagon  already has  a 10m-high Christmas tree — complete with multilingual "Merry Christmas" message and lights.
