GE Healthcare field engineer Paul Coombes and Dunedin Hospital charge MRI technologist Jill Oliver discuss the calibration of the new GE Optima 1.5 Tesla MRI scanner at Dunedin Hospital.

The MRI machine will be operational for patients from Monday.

Interim chief executive Chris Fleming said the radiology team went "above and beyond" to minimise disruption during the installation period.

The old MRI machine was removed on November 9, and during the re-installation period, the hospital did not have an MRI machine.
