Forecasters have warned Otago is in for a drenching as heavy rain sweeps in from the Tasman Sea tonight.
The Metservice says a low-pressure system set to hit the South Island tonight will bring heavy rain to Otago until tomorrow afternoon.
It warns that rivers and streams could rise rapidly and slips and surface flooding are possible.
