Highlanders present special shirt

The Highlanders turned out in force yesterday to show their support for the Muslim community following the Christchurch shootings.

The squad visited the Al Huda mosque in Dunedin's Clyde St alongside scores of people intent on paying their respects.

The players presented the mosque with a signed shirt, bearing a special message that read: "In Loving Memory of the lives lost at the Masjid Al Noor Mosque Linwood Islamic Centre 15.03.19. You are us."

Otago Muslim Association chairman Mohammed Rizwan said he was amazed at the support from both the Highlanders and the wider public.

Before Friday prayers today, Dr Rizwan said things would continue as normal, but "with heavily saddened hearts".
