Hyde St fire draws authorities

Police were called to Hyde St in North Dunedin on Saturday night after a street  party involving about 100 people became disorderly.

A  crew from the Dunedin Central Fire Station was  also sent  to the scene because a couch was set  on fire.

A police spokeswoman said police were called to the  Hyde St property just after 10pm on Saturday because of general disorder caused by the party, including the burning of the couch.

One male was arrested after he tried to fight his friends who attempted  to take him home.

There was no information available on any charges laid against the man, the spokeswoman said.
