Legal arguments stall Bain hearing

The jury in the David Bain retrial has been sent away for the day while legal argument continues in the High Court at Christchurch.

The jury was sent home early on Friday and told to return for the trial to resume at 2.15pm today.

However, trial judge Justice Graham Panckhurst was told this morning the submissions would likely take the rest of the day.

The argument was taking place in closed court and could not be reported.

Today was the 32nd day of Bain's trial on charges of murdering five members of his family in their Dunedin home in June 1994.
