Yesterday, Mrs Prescott was made an honorary life member of the Otago Pioneer Women’s Association.
During her 33-year involvement with the association she had filled a number of roles, including secretary and president.
She recalled packed Christmas parties, a flooded kitchen and "lots of laughing" with association members.
She was "thrilled" to be made a life member of the association, but the recognition did not mean her work was done.
"My mother-in-law came to every function until she was 101.
"I’m on the committee as long as they want me."
