New traffic lights on State Highway 1 at the intersection of Great King St and Howe St in Dunedin are expected to be switched on within a week. The NZ Transport Agency has installed the lights at the intersection, which was one of the few remaining North Dunedin intersections on the state highway lacking signals.

Now the lights are installed, a pedestrian crossing outside George St Normal School will be removed and a kerbside drop-off and pick-up area will be provided for pupils' parents to use.
