Loose roof

Firefighters use a turntable ladder to secure loose roofing at the Caledonian War Memorial Gymnasium, in Dunedin, yesterday.

A Fire and Emergency New Zealand spokesman said it was notified of the incident at 11.49am.

Firefighters were called by the Dunedin City Council to nail down the roof.

Firefighters were helped with their assessments at the scene by council contractors, who would determine whether any long-term fixes needed to be done, he said.
