Dunedin police are searching for a man accsued of assaulting four people with a bottle near the Octagon on Saturday morning.
Senior Sergeant Craig Brown said two males and a female became involved in an altercation with the man on Princes St about 4am.
Another female became involved later.
It was not known what sparked the assaults, but alcohol was thought to be a factor, he said.
Three of the victims, aged from late teens to early 20s, were taken to Dunedin Hospital with minor to moderate injuries, but all were discharged soon after.
None of the victims were known to the man.
Snr Sgt Brown said police had yet to locate the suspect, but were ''following a positive line of inquiry''.
