Man charged after Dunedin armed robbery

A 21-year-old man has been charged following the armed robbery of a Dunedin dairy this afternoon.

Senior Sergeant Craig Brown, of Dunedin, said the man would be held in custody and would appear in the Dunedin District Court tomorrow.

Police were called to the Shiel Hill Foodcentre today after a shopkeeper reported being robbed at knife point about 2pm.

The man had entered the dairy and demanded money and cigarettes from the sole female worker, Snr Sgt Brown said earlier.

Following the robbery he fled the Highcliff Rd store.

Snr Sgt Brown said the man concealed his face during the robbery, and was wearing dark trousers and a light coloured hoodie.
