Legendary Irish singersongwriter Mundy and energetic world music outfit ALDOC, are on tour in New Zealand and will perform in Dunedin on Friday, March 3.

Multiplatinum-selling artist Mundy has released six studio albums in the past 20 years and performed for Barack Obama twice, once in Ireland and once at the White House.

While busking in Dublin during the 1990s, Mundy achieved international fame when his song To You I Bestow featured in the soundtrack of Baz Luhrmann’s Romeo and Juliet movie.

He worked with a wide range of talent, including Pink Floyd, The Verve and Paul McCartney and made Steve Earle’s song Galway Girl into an international hit.

ALDOC headlined the Goa Jazz festival and brings urban sounds and musical soundscapes, led by melodies on the flute accompanied with jazz-tinged arrangements,  brass solos, electric guitars, and lonely banjo lines.

Some of the band members are also no strangers to Dunedin audiences, Dubliner Alan Doherty having visited Dunedin previously as flautist and vocalist with Grada, and Gerry Paul who performed with Tim O’Brien, Grada and Mel Parsons.

Also, joining ALDOC on this tour are Thomas Voyce of Rhombus, Oscar Laven of the Wellington City Shake’Em-On-Downers and Wellington musicians Finn Johansson, Chris Wratt and Aaron Stewart.

Mundy and ALDOC will perform on Friday, March 3, from 8pm at the Maori Hill Coronation Hall, 1 Balmacewen Rd, Dunedin. Tickets available via www.eventfinda.co.nz, or at the door.
