Seven Queenstown residents and one from Gore are the latest in the region to be confirmed with measles, the Southern District Health Board said yesterday.

The total number of cases in the South now stands at 66 [Queenstown 60, Dunedin 2, Wanaka 2, Oamaru 1, Gore 1]. The SDHB said in a statement the Gore resident was in contact with a known case and had been in isolation throughout the infectious period.

Anyone who thought they had been exposed to measles should watch for symptoms and isolate themselves immediately if they started to get sick. The SDHB advised people to call their GP in advance if seeking care.
